On Wednesday the Year 12 boys attended their first Key Note from Dr Jason Fox. Jason is a dynamic presenter who combines humour with higher order thinking skills to engage the boys in academic performance concepts and approaches This Key Note was an introduction to the year-long program which focussed on creating the right mental models for meaningful goal setting to occur. Jason supplemented this Key Note with a performance workshop for the Prefects and House leaders on effective organisation and communication. Similar performance workshops will be offered to all students on a rotation basis, with students and parents having input into the session content.
Earlier posts on this blog have the outline of the year’s program which includes a parent night hosted by Jason. This program will be refined further throughout the year to ensure that Jason is working closely with the specific needs of the PAC Year 12s. Boarding needs, international students and students with specific learning styles and needs will also be catered for.
In between visits from Jason he has his website: enjoyexams.com which allows PAC students to login to his member area where over 10 hours of video can be viewed on study skills, as well as the opportunity to post specific questions. Parents are also warmly invited to log into this site. Your son has the relevant login details or you can e-mail me for more information.
Our first day with Jason has already made a significant impact on our students and we look forward to his regular contact with the school, both in person and via his website over the coming months.
Copies of Jason’s book are also available for students and parents and can be collected from Mr Parker’s office.
