Engineering careers pathways


Dear Parents,

Engineering offers interesting career pathways, but with so many options, it can get confusing for high school students. Many of our boys at Princes are interested in Maths and Science career pathways, especially engineering careers.  Therefore, I would like to help impart relevant information to those students.

Seeking to create a memorable and fun learning experience, Prince Alfred College will be providing 8 engineering stations (Piper Pavilion) accompanied by 8 different kinds of pizza (!) to the students here at Prince Alfred College*.

If you feel your son or sons may be interested in attending, I would be grateful if you could promote this for me:

Pizza and Engineering Night for Years 10, 11 and 12

When:                                                                               Thursday March 8
Location:   Piper Pavilion and Anzac Hall, Prince Alfred College

Organiser:  Monica Magann, Careers Counsellor
Participants:      Engineers Australia, BHP, Advantage SA, BAE Systems, ASC, Innovation Science and the Defence Force

Times:

5:15 PM              Students arrive
5:30 PM               Welcome address in the Anzac Hall by Headmaster Kevin Tutt,  
                              Prince Alfred College and Engineers Australia
5:45 PM               Students disperse to eight engineering sessions in the Piper
                              Pavilion
                              Students hear first engineering talk and eat their first pizza         

Bell rings every 15 minutes                                     Students rotate to 8 sessions in total, to listen to 8 different engineering specialists

Module 2:           Workshop rotation 1a: Goal getting and goal setting. 45 minutes plus questions. Approx. 85 students

Module 3:           Workshop rotation 1b: Bio study, sleep, nutrition, exercise. 45 minutes plus questions. Same 85 students.

Trackskill Driver Training Course

Details:
What – Defensive Driving Training
When – Sunday 25th March
Where – Adelaide International Raceway
Who: Any licensed driver P or L plates (must be able to drive not a learn to drive course), parents welcome to participate.
Cost: PAC price $195.00 Normally $295.00

What you need:
Own car (road worthy and types 36psi)
Flat, enclosed shoes – no singlets or thongs
License P or L

Year 12 Parent Expo Monday February 27

Year 12 parents are warmly invited to attend the Year 12 Parent Expo on Monday 27 February at Prince Alfred College. This is an ideal opportunity to meet with selected staff and special guest presenters who will explain the many customised Year 12 services and support structures which are provided specifically for students in their final year of school. A brief program is highlighted below.
