Dr Fox visit February 18
Dear Year 12s,
Next Monday, February 18 sees Dr Jason Fox visit us from
Melbourne to support us with our Yr 12 Academic Agility Program. Academic
Agility is a term we use in Year 12 to describe the optimum learner behaviours
which we look for in students. An agile learner, much like an agile athlete, is
able to practise, plan, adapt and refine their craft to achieve their maximum
potential. Dr Fox’s input, as well as other wellbeing sessions throughout the year
will aim to support all students to craft their academic agility.
A program for Monday is displayed below, it will also be on
the Yr 12 blog and on the whiteboard.
All students will
attend a Key Note Address by Dr Fox in Module 3 in ANZAC Hall.
Other smaller groups will operate throughout the day, please
check for your name. Future visits from Dr Fox will allow other groups of Yr 12
students to work closely with Dr Fox on academic agility.

always on the lookout for parents and Old Scholars who are able to invest some
time in enlightening and empowering our boys. A personal story always
goes down well. If you are able to support the Careers Office with
sharing at an event or in a class setting, please let me know. I am looking for
engineers, police officers, fire fighters, lawyers, doctors, mechanics,
politicians, pub owners, pilots, farmers, authors, teachers, veterinarians,
advertising gurus, astronauts, bankers, horse whisperers, podiatrists,
diplomats, university lecturers… and more! Please let me know if
you are available!
Additional note: If you
have overcome any learning challenges in your journey to success such as
dyslexia, would you be so kind as to also let me know? Our Student Success Team
is seeking inspiring speakers as well.
Additional note again: Do
you work in a business or organization that would be able to host a work
experience student from Year 11? Again, please let me know. Thanks!
Any questions? Feel free
to
ask!
It’s going to be an exciting year!
Kind regards
Ms.

Mooting
Registration
is now open for the 2013 High School Mooting Competition
Bond
University’s annual High School Mooting Competition is not only for those that
are interested in a career in law but for students keen to expand their
horizons.
The
competition is aimed towards Year 11 and 12 students who want to:
·
Be
challenged by preparing, articulating and defending legal arguments
·
Experience live courtroom environments
·
Apply legal
rules to real-life
cases
·
Mount legal
arguments before one or more judges
In teams of
three, students will prepare a ‘moot’ which is a presentation of a legal
argument by opposing teams before one or more judges – a simulation of a
barrister’s appearance in a real court. Contestants are asked to apply
legal rules to fact situations, and are judged on their advocacy skills along
with their ability to understand and argue the legal problem. The competition
also introduces the students to the courtroom environment and provides insight
into the workings of the legal system. Most of all, students find it
exciting and fun!
The Best Team
and Best Advocates in the competition will each be offered a 40% scholarship to
study a Bachelor of Laws at Bond University.
Competition
information and registration form are available at www.bond.edu.au/high-school-mooting, or for any
additional queries please contact highschoolmooting@bond.edu.au.
Competition
materials will be distributed to all registrants on Wednesday, 27 February
2013.
