• Largest are Health Care, Social Assistance and Retail Trade

UK Gap Year opportunities

We are pleased to advise that there are still limited places available for suitable post-Year 12 students who wish to undertake a Gap Year in 2012 working at a top UK boarding school.

Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old and be prepared to work as an assistant Housemaster/mistress and/or classroom assistant, and involve themselves in extra-curricular sporting and artistic pursuits. During term time pocket money and full board accommodation is included. The school holidays will provide individuals with many opportunities to explore the UK and Europe.

We endeavour to match schools with the particular skill-set of the student – for example some UK schools are particularly strong in the performing arts, so an Australian student who can demonstrate skills in this area would be of great interest. Similarly, sports-oriented Gap Year students are highly regarded by many UK schools.

More detailed information can be found on our web site www.ukgapyear.com.au  and a full brochure is available on request.  Initial questions can be addressed to Minetta Cox at Champion Travel, telephone (08) 8239 0999 or Louise Brunner on (08) 8363 7260.

All SACE students should be using the form shown below for any absences during assessment tasks. This includes illness and misadventure and personal circumstances. Completing this form helps the school to support you when finalising moderation and internal assessments. Forms can be collected from your subject teachers, or from Mr Parker's office. Temporary Parking Changes for Year 12 Student Car Park

The Middle School is introducing the eduKART Program in 2011 as an integral component of the Year 8 curriculum. The program will involve Year 8 boys building, refining and testing electric powered vehicles in the eduKART workshop located on the Parade West, opposite the back entrance to the College. Much of the testing during the construction phase will take place in the car park directly beside the workshop, the Year 12 car park.

The eduKART program will require the use of the Year 12 student car park during each of these weeks. We have made alternative car parking arrangements for Year 12 students for this time. They will use the staff car park in Little Flinders Street behind the Early Learning Centre. Special parking permits will be allocated and will need to be displayed during this time. These permits will be distributed by the Year 12 Coordinator, Mr Scott Parker.

Dates of the eduKART Program

Program 1 Term 2 Week 3 16 May – 20 May

Program 2 Term 2 Week 6 6 June – 10 June

Program 3 Term 3 Week 7 5 September – 9 September

Program 4 Term 3 Week 10 26 September – 30 September
